Label, draw and measure

Use the drawing controls toolbar in the lower left to draw, label, edit, or remove drawn features.

Length/area information will be displayed while you are drawing.

Click on a drawn feature to see more details, such as the elevation profile for a drawn line.

Save map settings

Use the "Copy URL to clipboard" button to send the current map settings, in a URL, to your clipboard. Paste it wherever you want a link to the current map view -- e.g. in a document, web page, email...

Print map

The portion of the map that will be printed is highlighted on your display. Pan and zoom if necessary to position the desired region inside this area.

If the legend or an elevation profile are being displayed, they will be repositioned, if necessary, to also appear in the printout.

Getting started

  • Click-and-drag to pan the map.
  • To zoom:
    • Use the zoom control in the upper-left corner,
    • or use the scroll wheel on your mouse,
    • or, to zoom to a specific area, hold down the "Shift" key, then click-and-drag to define the area.
  • Click on the map to see properties of the active map layers at that location.
  • Add data using the Map layers tab in the Options menu window.
  • Change base maps using the Base map tab in the Options menu window.
  • Draw, label, measure, find a location, analyze, save, and print using the Tools tab in the Options menu window.

Geolocation

This will center the map and place a marker at your current location. It will attempt, for up to 10 seconds, to achieve an accuracy within 100 m.
