| Abstract | This dataset represents historic pine data for the Cloquet Valley State Forest. It was collected by Peter K. Jongewaard utilizing publically available historic information from the Minnesota Historical Society. Specifically, data was obtained from the archives of the Northwest Paper Company (Cloquet Lumber Company Estimate Book, Cloquet LumberCompany Land and Tax Record, Northern Lumber Company Land and Tax Record, Johnson Wentworth Lumber Company Land and Tax Record), archives of the Northern Lumber Company (Northern Lumber Co. Acreage Statistics, Northern Lumber Company Acreage Change Records), archives of Surveyor General of Logs and Lumber Dist. 5 Duluth (State Scaler records, original State Timber Permits), and from the archives of the Timber Commissioners Board (Reports of Estimates and Appraisals of the Timber Commissioners Board, Minnesota, 1895-1905).
