Title: Estimated Statewide Phosphorus Fertilizer density per culivated acre by major watershed in Minnesota for crop year 2018

Abstract: Phosphorus fertilizer use was estimated for the state on a major watershed (HUC8) basis. Six major crops that receive Phosphorus fertilizer were isolated in the 2018 Cropland Data Layer (Corn, Soybeans, Wheat, Sugar beets, Potatoes, and Dry Beans). Corn, Soybean, and Wheat fertilizer use was estimating using the 2016-2019 USDA ERS Fertilizer Use Report, and the remaining crops had University of Minnesota recommendations (median Soil Test P) applied to them. All values of Phosphorus fertilizer are listed as Pounds of Elemental Phosphorus. The data was normalized using 2018 cultivated acres and a fertilizer density per cultivated acre was calculated.
