Title: 1854 Treaty Authority List of Wild Rice Waters

Abstract: Wild Rice Waters in the 1854 Ceded Territory: The list of wild rice waters in the 1854 Ceded Territory was developed and is maintained by the 1854 Treaty Authority. The initial version was developed beginning in 1996 using available information compiled by a University of Minnesota Duluth project. The 1854 Treaty Authority has continued to develop the list and updates it annually as new information is acquired through field observations, data from other partners, review of other reports and databases, etc. Partners providing information have included tribes, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, U.S. Forest Service, and others.

Purpose: The purpose of the list is to identify locations in the 1854 Ceded Territory that support (or have supported) wild rice.
