This data layer is 2008 and 2009 orthophotography. It originated from the International Water Institute and covers the Minnesota portion of the Red River Basin at a 0.5 meter resolution as part of the Red River Basin Mapping Initiative 2008-2010 project. Orthophotography is extremely useful for determining land use and land cover. As a result of this, it can provide important context for specific locations and other spatial data. If multiple years are available, it can also be used to identify changes that take place on the landscape.
