This data layer is 2009 orthophotography. It originated from The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and covers part of the Lake Superior shore of Wisconsin, including the Apostle Islands, at a 0.3 meter resolution. Orthophotography is extremely useful for determining land use and land cover. As a result of this, it can provide important context for specific locations and other spatial data. If multiple years are available, it can also be used to identify changes that take place on the landscape.
