This data layer displays the percentage of persons who speak a Language Other Than English at home by Census Tract. The data is for all persons age 5 and older and includes all languages other than English. It was developed by the Metropolitan Council and the Natural Resources Research Institute using data from the American Community Survey's (ACS) five-year summary for 2017 to 2021. The ACS is conducted on an annual basis by the US Census Bureau, and provides more timely data than the Census for identifying trends in a community. ACS data provides survey-collected demographic, social, economic, commuting, and housing statistics, which can be useful for project planning.
