Crop Productivity Index
Extent of available data.
This data layer indicates the Crop Productivity Index (CPI) ratings of soils with regard to the potential for intensive crop production. It was developed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service. The index ranges from 1 to 100, with higher numbers indicating higher production potential based on physical and chemical properties of the soils and on such hazards as flooding or ponding. Understanding the potential agricultural productivity of land can help guide conservation or acquisition efforts towards less productive land.
