Forest Health Survey – 2017

This dataset shows where tree damage was delineated in aerial surveys in 2017. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Flights occurred in late June to late August. The most common disturbers include eastern larch beetle, spruce budworm, forest tent caterpillar, larch casebearer, aspen decline, shoot blight on northern white cedar, flooding, wind, jack pine budworm, black ash decline, twolined chestnut borer, hail, bark beetles on pines, and oak wilt. This survey indicates where significant tree defoliation and mortality occurred and aids in monitoring trends in forest health conditions.
