Forest Health Survey – 2021

This dataset shows where tree damage was delineated in aerial surveys in 2021. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Flights occurred from mid June to early September. The most common disturbers include spruce budworm, eastern larch beetle, aspen decline, larch casebearer, forest tent caterpillar, emerald ash borer, flooding, wind, pine bark beetles, and twolined chestnut borer. This survey indicates where significant tree defoliation and mortality occurred and aids in monitoring trends in forest health conditions.
