This data layer indicates the level of Magnesium in Well Water. It was developed by the Minnesota Geological Survey using data from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. It includes the chemistry of groundwater from 954 water wells that were sampled between 1993 and 1996. Magnesium is a naturally occurring metal found in rock, soil, and water. Increased levels of calcium and magnesium can result in hard water. There are currently no health concerns about magnesium levels in Minnesota's groundwater. This geochemical data provides a regional context for exploration and environmental management efforts.
