Lakes – Stream Trout

This data layer identifies lakes that are managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the following stream trout species: brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, and splake. Trout have low tolerances for warm water and degraded water quality. The presence of trout often indicates that a lake is deep, cold, has good water quality, and is located in a relatively undisturbed area. Trout are prized by anglers, and these lakes are often a focus of conservation efforts.
