Legacy Amendment Projects

This data layer identifies projects that were funded through the Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment. It was developed by the Legislative Coordinating Commission. The amendment was passed by Minnesota voters in 2008 and is funded through sales tax revenue. The proceeds can be used to "protect drinking water sources; to protect, enhance, and restore wetlands, prairies, forests, and fish, game, and wildlife habitat; to preserve arts and cultural heritage; to support parks and trails; and to protect, enhance, and restore lakes, rivers, streams, and groundwater." These projects can benefit the environment of the surrounding area and have a positive impact on nearby communities. These data indicate where and how these public resources are being invested.
