This data layer identifies Turkey Permit Areas. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and is used for population management, harvest summaries, and management mapping. Wild turkeys were once rare in Minnesota but have been restored successfully and are now common in much of the southern half of the state. Turkeys usually travel in flocks and can be seen in wooded areas next to agricultural fields and pastures and are a popular game bird.
