This data layer is the Recreation Trails Metric of the Parcel Environment Benefit Assessment Tool (PEBAT). It was developed by the University of Minnesota. PEBAT was created to assist in the prioritization of public land acquisitions in Minnesota. It uses the 40 acre public land survey parcels as summary units and has eleven metrics. The Recreation Trails Metric Identifies parcels that have a high proportion of their land in close proximity to a public trail. These trails include those used for a variety of both motorized and non-motorized activities. Identifying and protecting areas that are near trails can maintain and improve the experience of trail users.
