This dataset is a grid of estimated precipitation frequency in thousandths of an inch, provided for the selected average recurrence interval and duration. It is based on data from U.S. weather stations from 1836 to 2013. It was developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), provided as NOAA Atlas 14. Precipitation frequency estimates are used for design of hydraulic structures such as culverts, drainages, bridges, and dams.
