School District Boundaries

This layer represents attendance boundaries of all independent, common, and special school districts in the state. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Education. The majority of students in Minnesota attend public elementary and secondary schools. Minnesota school districts determine their own attendance boundaries to ensure proper taxation. These are not true tax boundaries, but represent residential areas and is used by the Minnesota Department of Education for various regulatory and advisory purposes, including identifying program financial priorities.
