This data layer is 2011 Spring Leaf-Off Orthophotography produced from imagery containing four bands of red, green, blue, and infrared (RGBI). It originated from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Surdex Corporation and covers 38 counties in southern Minnesota: Dodge, Faribault, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Le Sueur, Lincoln, Lyon, Martin, McLeod, Meeker, Mower, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Olmsted, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville, Rice, Rock, Sibley, Steele, Swift, Wabasha, Waseca, Watonwan, Winona and Yellow Medicine at a 0.5 meter resolution. Orthophotography is extremely useful for determining land use and land cover. As a result, it can provide important context for specific locations and other spatial data. If multiple years are available, it can also be used to identify changes that take place on the landscape.
