This data layer indicates the boundaries of Minnesota's State Forests. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. State Forests were established to produce timber and forest products, provide recreational opportunities, conserve habitat for native flora and fauna, and protect water quality. Their boundaries are defined by Legislation and often contain some private land. Forests provide both economical and ecological benefits to the areas and people surrounding them. They support jobs in the forest industry and provide clean air, clean water, and habitat for a variety of species.
