This data layer depicts healthy stream reaches that have been prioritized for protection through the Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategies (WRAPS). It was created by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources The highest priority is given to those at greatest risk of becoming impaired, recognizing that stream quality varies amongst stream categories in the tiered aquatic life uses (TALU) framework. These streams are currently supporting the aquatic life designated use, and their protection would be a cost-effective way of preserving health and function of ecosystems compared to restoring impaired waters.
