This data is seamless 0.5 meter Lidar-derived Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for the state of Minnesota. Data collection was guided by the Minnesota Geospatial Advisory Councils 3D Geomatics Committee and the Minnesota Geospatial Information Office (MnGeo), with support from federal partners such as USGS and FEMA. The data was collected between 2021 and 2023. A DEM is a representation of the earth's topography. An accurate understanding of the topography of an area and the elevation of specific locations is vital to understanding the physical and biological processes that are occurring both on the landscape and in the atmosphere. Elevation data supports many applications, including hydrologic modeling, infrastructure planning, forest resource assessment, and environmental monitoring.
