This data layer indicates the locations and routes of Minnesota Trails. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. It consists of a variety of trails and State Park roads and includes Water Trails, State Trails (legislatively authorized and physically constructed), the Superior Hiking Trail, and other trails that are maintained by Grant-In-Aid funded trail clubs. This trail system allows access to public and private land for a variety of recreational activities, including walking, hiking, biking, hunting, cross-country skiing, canoeing, and kayaking. Many people value these trails and consider them an asset to the surrounding communities.
