Trails – State

This data layer indicates the locations and routes of State Trails. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR). State Trails have been authorized by the legislature and are maintained by the MN DNR. They are located on both public land and private land where easements have been acquired. These trails can either be designated for a specific use or for multiple recreational activities. This trail system allows access to public and private land for a variety of recreational activities, including walking, hiking, biking, hunting, and cross-country skiing. Many people value these trails and consider them an asset to the surrounding communities.
