Tree Canopy Cover – NLCD – 2011

This data layer represents percent tree canopy cover in 2011 modeled at the 30 meter resolution by the USDA Forest Service. Random forest regression models were built using satellite imagery sources providing multispectral and elevation data, and models were trained with ground-truthed U.S. Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program data points to predict percent tree canopy cover. This data series can aid in monitoring tree density and coverage dynamics over time.
