This data layer indicates the boundaries of Tribal census tracts. It was developed as part of the 2018 TIGER/Line database by the US Census Bureau. Tribal lands consist of Reservations (areas of land occupied by and managed by a Tribe) and Off-Reservation Trust Lands (land outside of a reservation that is held in trust for the benefit of a Tribe). Tribes generally have their own natural resource management programs and place significant value on maintaining healthy and productive ecosystems that allow their members to practice traditional hunting, fishing, and gathering.
