This data layer indicates the boundaries of the watersheds used for the One Watershed, One Plan (1W1P) process. It was developed by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources. The 1W1P planning boundaries are modified boundaries from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Level 4 (HUC 8) Watersheds. In some cases watersheds were combined or split based on subwatershed or jurisdictional boundaries to accommodate better planning coordination between local governments and assure they are planning for their appropriate geographic area. Watersheds are an important natural boundary. The quality of the water collected within or flowing out of them reflects the health of the entire watershed. Any activities in the landscape unit must be viewed within the context of the watersheds they are located within.
