This data layer identifies infested waters. It was developed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Impaired waters have been inhabited by any of the following species: bighead carp, Brazilian waterweed, brittle naiad, Eurasian watermilfoil, faucet snail, flowering rush, grass carp, New Zealand mud snail, red swamp crayfish, round goby, ruffe, silver carp, spiny waterflea, starry stonewort, viral hemorrhagic septicemia (VHS), white perch, or zebra mussel. These invasive species can have negative impacts on native species and the entire ecosystem of a water body. Infestations can spread easily to other bodies of water through both natural and anthropogenic processes.
